Praises AMSOIL!

LNG
Publishing Company, Inc.
In the March 2003 issue of
Lubes 'n' Greases,
Automotive Editor David McFall wrote an
in-depth article on the subject of extended oil drain intervals and
touted AMSOIL as a safe, cost-effective and environmentally preferred
choice. He praised AMSOIL for their commitment to excellence and labeled
AMSOIL "unshackled"
for never conforming to industry norms and standards.

Unique Formulation
The average compressor performs under very severe operating
conditions. High heat and high pressure required to maintain
satisfactory levels of compressed air can degrade internal
compressor components and shorten any compressor's operating
life. To ease the burden of operating stresses, a quality
compressor oil is needed.
AMSOIL PC Synthetic Compressor Oils are
formulated from premium synthetic base oils and specialized
additives. Its unique formulation allows AMSOIL PC Synthetic
Compressor Oils to increase operational efficiency, reduce
energy consumption, lower operating temperatures and be used in
a wider operating temperature range. AMSOIL PC Synthetic
Compressor Oils minimize carbon build-up and provide clean
performance.
A Complete Additive System for Top Performance
AMSOIL PC Synthetic Compressor Oils are fortified with additives
designed for compressor applications. Unlike other compressor
oils, they are anti-wear fortified. The anti-foam agents stop unwanted foaming and air
entrapment, the corrosion inhibitors protect internal parts
against rust and corrosion, and the oxidation inhibitors
increase lubricant life by preventing carbon formation and
lubricant degradation.
Reduces Heat and Wear
Good foam control reduces heat, oxidation and wear. AMSOIL PC
Synthetic Compressor Oil's anti-foam additives help keep
high-contact regions protected against wear for increased
compressor life and efficiency.
Reduces the Need for Frequent Repairs or Rebuilds
The ashless/non-detergent anti-wear additives found in AMSOIL
PC Synthetic Compressor Oils prevent deposits and keep
components in like-new condition, reducing the need for frequent
repairs or rebuilds.
Longer Compressor Life
Due to the inherent stability of premium synthetic base oils,
AMSOIL PC Synthetic Compressor Oils reduce friction and resist
oil breakdown much longer than conventional compressor oils. These features provide better wear protection
and cleaner performance, which translates to
longer compressor life.
Saves Money on Energy Consumption
AMSOIL PC Synthetic Compressor Oils have low friction properties and
they resist viscosity increase from oxidation,
which helps improve operating efficiency and saves
money on electrical energy consumption.
Eliminates Seasonal Fluid Changes
AMSOIL PC Synthetic Compressor Oils can operate in a
wide operating temperature range
-– they
remain fluid in cold temperatures and have excellent stability
in high temperatures. These features reduce the need for seasonal
fluid changes, which means an overall savings for you.
Resists Water
Contamination
Water from condensation
builds up in compressors and can cause unwanted
oil/water emulsions, environmental discharge hazards and rust.
AMSOIL PC Synthetic Compressor Oils resist water to prevent damaging oil/water
emulsions, allowing for better lubrication, longer lubricant
life and ease of water removal from the sump -- water can be
easily drained off for simplified environmental discharge and
increased oil life. AMSOIL PC Synthetic Compressor Oils are
anti-rust fortified.
Safety Advantage
AMSOIL PC Synthetic Compressor Oils have higher flash, fire
and auto-ignition points than competitive petroleum oils. Their resistance to carbon formation and the ashless additive
system minimizes the incidence of deposits acting as
ignition-promoting hot spots. (Note: While AMSOIL PC Synthetic
Compressor Oils can provide improved fire safety, they cannot be
considered non-flammable.)
Best Overall Performance Score
When it comes to compressor oils, consumers have many
different options. Many equipment manufacturers market their own
brand of compressor oils. Other oils are available with a
variety of chemistries. But not all oils meet all parameters of
compressor operation. This is because unbalanced chemistries can
work against each other and weaken certain performance
requirements. To be truly effective at protecting a compressor
from all of the stresses it faces, an oil must contain a balance
of all the right features.
For example, as illustrated in the chart below, even
though a few competing oils performed slightly better than
AMSOIL in the 4-Ball Wear Test, AMSOIL PCI (ISO 46, SAE 20) came out on top when
overall performance in ALL areas of protection was considered.
AMSOIL PCI received the best overall performance score, proving
AMSOIL is the most versatile oil among the group tested. AMSOIL
PCI consistently performed near the top of the charts in all 14
test comparisons, while other oils performed well in some tests
but not in others.

AMSOIL Outperforms the Competition in Pricing
AMSOIL also outperforms the competition in pricing. One
reason for this is that AMSOIL is sold factory-direct,
eliminating the cost-increasing steps normally used in
distributing other compressor oils. Some equipment manufacturers
also have their own oils mentioned in their compressor
warranties, allowing them to increase the prices charged for
their "specialty" oils. AMSOIL can offer the best overall
quality compressor oil and still provide the best price!
8,000-Hour+ Life Expectancy
AMSOIL PC Synthetic Compressor Oils reduce maintenance costs
by extending drain intervals and lowering labor and
used-product-disposal requirements. AMSOIL PC Synthetic
Compressor Oils may be used for 8,000 hours or more for most
compressor applications, subject to operating conditions and
maintenance practices. Monitoring by oil analysis is
recommended.
Note: When installing AMSOIL PC Synthetic Compressor Oils, it is recommended that the
old oil be thoroughly drained and, if warranted,
the system cleaned. If a lot of carbon or residue
is found on the internal compressor parts, follow
the manufacturer's recommendations for removal
prior to installing the new oil. AMSOIL PC
Synthetic Compressor Oils have a high level of solvency and
may remove deposits left in the system. Check the
filters and oil/air separators regularly for the
first 500 hours of operation and replace as
necessary.
Product Compatibility
AMSOIL PC Synthetic Compressor Oils are compatible with
petroleum oils, most synthetic oils**, and
almost all seals, paints and materials commonly
used in compressors (see chart below). It is suggested that the
compressor be thoroughly drained and cleaned if
warranted, and the filter be changed prior to
filling with the new lubricant. Cleaning should
be done in accordance with manufacturer's
recommendations. Consult AMSOIL technical
department where further recommendations are
needed.
AMSOIL PC Synthetic Compressor Oils are not recommended for "breathing
air" or refrigeration compressors; they are also
not recommended for use with polycarbonate
plastic that is not metal covered, PVC plastic,
butyl, ethylene-propylene and SBR
rubber.
**Not compatible with polyalkylene glycol
or silicone oils such as Sullair 24KT®, Sullube
32® and Ingersoll Rand SSR Ultra
Coolant.

Viscosity Grades and Applications
AMSOIL PC Synthetic Compressor Oils are available in five viscosity
grades: ISO 32, ISO 46, ISO 68, ISO 100 and ISO 150. AMSOIL PC Synthetic
Compressor Oils are recommended
for use in single and multi-stage rotary screw, vane,
centrifugal and reciprocating compressor crankcases and
cylinders, vacuum pumps and other compressor applications
(ISO/viscosity grade depends on application). In addition, the
correct viscosity may be used in light-duty gear and bearing
applications, blowers, pumps and hand-held pneumatic tools.
