Long-Life Gear Lubes for Differentials, Manual Transmissions, Hypoid Gears Requiring API GL-5 and MT-1 Oil
Outperforms all Mineral Gear Oils to Improve Fuel Economy, Reduce Expenses
The exclusive formulation of premium synthetic base oils and high-performance additives found in AMSOIL Long-Life Full Synthetic Gear Oils (Product Codes: FGR, FGO), available in 75w90 and 80w140 viscosity grades, allow for extended drain intervals up to 500,000 miles for over-the-road trucks and heavy equipment. They also provide long life in passenger cars and trucks. AMSOIL Long-Life Synthetic Gear Oils outperform all conventional mineral gear lubes, to help extend equipment life and reduce maintenance costs. They maintain their viscosity during extended service for maximum wear control. They resist the formation of sludge and harmful deposits, so components run cleaner and last longer. And, they are shear-stable and reduce friction for improved fuel economy.
Use AMSOIL Long-Life Synthetic Gear Oils in differentials, manual transmissions, hypoid gears or other gear applications requiring API GL-5 and MT-1 gear oils. They may also be used in rear axles where an API GL-4 gear oil is recommended. The superior cold-temperature fluidity and high-temperature stability of AMSOIL Long-Life Synthetic 75w90 and 80w140 Gear Oils make them excellent for all-season use.
AMSOIL Long-Life Synthetic Gear Oils are a premium replacement for competitors’ gear lube. AMSOIL 75w90 Gear Oil replaces other 75w90 and 80w90 gear lubes and AMSOIL 80w140 Gear Oil replaces other 80w140 and 85w140 gear lubes. Both are compatible with most limited-slip differentials.

Reduces Maintenance and Operating Costs
AMSOIL Long-Life Full Synthetic 75w90 and 80w140 Gear Oils are extended drain gear oils engineered specifically to protect gears better and last several times longer than all conventional mineral gear oils. These exclusive AMSOIL formulations of premium synthetic base oils and high performance additives resist acid, carbon and varnish formation from oxidative breakdown. Components run cleaner and last longer. AMSOIL Long-Life Gear Oils are shear stable and friction reducing, providing an extra margin of protection that effectively increases gear life. Equipment lasts longer and maintenance and operating costs are reduced.
Reduces Operating Temperatures and Fuel Costs
Due to their synthetic construction, AMSOIL Long-Life Synthetic 75w90 and 80w140 Gear Oils are extremely effective at reducing friction. With reduced friction, excessive operating temperatures in transmissions and differentials are reduced and fuel economy is improved, reducing fuel costs.
Resists the Damaging Effects of High Temperatures
AMSOIL Long-Life Synthetic 75w90 and 80w140 Gear Oils resist the damaging effects of heat and oxidation at temperatures much higher than conventional mineral gear lubes can resist. They will not thicken or develop sludge, even under severe operating temperatures such as those encountered in heavy hauling and fleet operation. Their superior shear-stability allows them to maintain their viscosity during extended service.
Smoother Shifting in Cold Temperatures
In low temperatures, conventional mineral gear oils thicken to make shifting difficult. AMSOIL Long-Life Synthetic 75w90 and 80w140 Gear Oils resist low-temperature thickening to provide superior component protection, smoother shifting and increased fuel economy. At a temperature of 0°F, mineral gear lubricants may take as long as 18 minutes to flow and lubricate the front pinion bearing of a differential, while AMSOIL Long-Life Gear Oils flow in as little as 45 seconds.
Excellent for All-Season Use
The superior high-temperature stability and cold-temperature fluidity properties of AMSOIL Long-Life Synthetic 75w90 and 80w140 Gear Oils make them excellent for all-season use.
Protects Against Rust and Corrosion and Increases Seal Life
AMSOIL Long-Life Gear Oils provide a durable, protective film on components to prevent the formation of rust and corrosion. These gear oils also increase seal life and reduce oil leakage due to pressure build up. They are compatible with the materials used to make seals and will not cause excessive swelling, shrinkage or hardening.
Compatible with Most Limited Slip Differentials
AMSOIL Long-Life Gear Oils are compatible with most limited slip differentials. If limited slip differential chatter occurs, add AMSOIL Slip Lock Limited Slip Additive friction modifier additive.
Extended Oil Change Intervals
AMSOIL Long-Life Synthetic 75w90 and 80w140 Gear Oils have a longer service life than conventional gear lubes do.
Cars, SUVs and Light Trucks:
Normal Service: Drain at 100,000 miles of service or according to the owner’s manual, whichever is longer.
Severe Service: Drain at 50,000 miles of service or according to the owner’s manual, whichever is longer.
Heavy-Duty Class 8 Line Haul: Follow the OEM drain interval (miles or hours) for synthetic oil up to 500,000 miles or three years, whichever comes first.
Vocational/Delivery: Follow the OEM drain interval (miles or hours) for synthetic oil up to 120,000 miles or three years, whichever comes first.
Heavy-Duty Off-Road: Follow the OEM drain interval (miles or hours) for synthetic oil up to 100,000 miles or two years, whichever comes first.
Note: AMSOIL does not support extended oil drain intervals where water contamination occurs. Check and service the gear oil frequently when water contamination is possible. Gear oils should be changed more frequently when operating vehicles or equipment in dusty or dirty conditions unless the gear system is properly sealed and equipped with membrane type breathers.
AMSOIL Long-Life Full Synthetic 75w90 and 80w140 Gear Oils, in the correct viscosity grades, are recommended for all domestic and foreign applications such as over-the-road trucks, light-, medium- and heavy-duty trucks, off-road equipment, commercial vehicles, motor homes, cars, SUVs, emergency vehicles, buses, delivery/utility vehicles and tractors.
